The freest country in the world, economically speaking? Well, it's Hong Kong if one puts stock in the Heritage Foundation/Wall Street Journal Index of such. There are only 16 totally free economies around, by their metrics. The US is number 12. Naturally, that we're not in the top ten is what gets all the press.
